What I did this week.

Lionel. Any excuse.

Its been a busy week for me BBz. The non blogging world has certainly been a buzz, which is never a bad thing and I like to be kept on my feet. I’ve also had a bout of the man flu, so have been confined to my bed just sleeping and eating my pain. Nothing new there then.

Hopefully some of you have managed to keep to your new years resolutions. I have managed to keep ( kinda ) to one of mine, so I am feeling rather nifty about that. The rest, well they can be considered “slung out the window” until January 2016. Otherwise life is good, apart from a severe case of writers block. Which isn’t useful, especially as I am in the process of completing an article for tit-bits.co.uk. Whats a girl to do? I need to find inspiration and fast. Usually waffling on here get my juices flowing but alas, I am waffling but no creative juice is being squeezed. Humph.

In a quest to find inspiration I have been mainly perving on vintage dresses. Because that is my bag baby. Since it has been a week since my last post, I can share another dress of the week ( see being fashionably late can be good for somethings) This weeks is –

Marie Antoinette Court gown 1778-79 This is a modern costume created by Atelier Caraco, though it is indeed a recreation of one of Marie Antoinette’s court gowns! :)

I also stumbled upon this interesting article about historical fashion

This has also caused me to become a big pinterest whore. Huge. I’m late to the pinning party I know, but shut up!! Follow my exploits here <3 . Here are a few accounts I have been following as of late –

Fashions of Yesteryear

1800’s fahions

Any recommendations are welcomed! Anyway I am going to go and get all tucked up in bed with a Lemsip. Eurgh, is there anything on earth worse than a Lemsip.

I hate the bastard. needs must!

Rocking with my crock out

Gah!!!

I’d just wrote a lovely long post when my cat decided to sit on my keyboard whist I was otherwise occupied with the kettle. She some how magically managed restart my computer in the process too. Impressive skills. So this update will have to do my lovelies.

I have had a pretty crazy week so I was happy to chillax at the weekend. I went for drinks for a friends birthday in Islington. I also got my crock pot on and made a spag bol in the slow cooker. I really am becoming a fan. How rock n roll is that sentence? The taste of slow cooked food is very nice, in foodie terms, it has a nice “depth”.

It was nice to know there are a few more history buffs out there than first expected, going by the response of my last blog post.  Thanks for sharing.

So I have decided to share a “dress of the week”. This was was shared by Cozy vintage Corner on Facebook. It’s stunning!! <3

Simply beautiful.

Anyway bedtime calls so catch up soon my lovelies hopefully with less pussy cat dramas!

History Ahoy!

Hello Darlings!

For many this will be their first week back at work, how was it?

Over the Christmas holidays I spent a lot of time with the internet and I did a lot of surfing. Which I adore. No intentions, just jumping from link to link. I am a huge history buff, as some of you may know. It really rocks my boat, and living in London means I get to be surrounded by it all of the time. Woof!

( any excuse for Blackadder on my blog)

A few people I have spoken too recently have shared an interest in it too. I love that about hobbies. Some of them are so intimate to us, such as baking, and sewing that unless you share the spoils, you actually enjoy the experience on your own.So we all exchanged good websites and secret historic passions.

Here are some of mine.

I LOVE historical fashion. I could just lay back and bask in it. Recently this interest has started to lean towards a curiosity in  the making of the clothing it’s self. I may even have a go at creating something. Until then, here are some places where I get my fixes.

Tudor Dresses interest me the most, and this wonderful lady makes some amazing creations – Tudor Dreams Historical Costumier

I can’t believe how well made those items are! <3

I also enjoy a visit to Cozy vintage corner over on facebook. This is one of my favourite dresses. So beautiful.

I am an Anne Boleyn Fan and the Anne Boleyn files is a great source for information on all areas of life in that period and the woman herself.

Another historical fashion blog treasure is the Historical fashion tumblr

Madame Guillotine is a fab place where you can loose a lot of time learning about different periods of time by delving into historical tit bits. Two other great sites to mention ( and I previously have)are historical honey and History witch, Both are amazeballs.

I’ll finish up with a mention for the history chicks Whoot! whoot!

What about you lovelies, do any of you have any secret hobbies? Do any of you share mine? If so, make sure to share your pools of knowledge in the form of links below, I wanna find more 🙂

Until next time!

Love BP <3

Happy New Year and shiz

Hello BBz,

How was your Christmas and New Year? Mine as usual was not to plan, but luckily didn’t involve A&E. Otherwise, I am all good in the hood and I will fill you in on my absence at some point but until then, let’s keep it light darlings!

Stepping away from the traditional “New Years Resolution” post, that is almost as important to the blogging calendar as the “yearly round up” and the “something hundreth” posts ( I am aware of the irony that my last post was in fact a “hundreth” post ) I’ve decided to meme it up baby, in celebration of the reality of New years. Enjoy!

New Years Eve Memes

I can relate to this most weekends –

I will never understand  why this is, but it is so true, 2010 sucked but I still remember some of my best nights out! –

I did change my hair though-

One of my faves from facebook-

I kid, I kid. I don’t think there is anything wrong with a bit of self reflection, and a few of my co- workers really stuck to their resolutions in 2014, and have inspiring results so I am planning some resolutions, but I will list them end of Feb. I want to see which ones I am sticking to easier, and keep doing them for 2015. Keeps the pressure off if you whittle the list down  a few weeks in, and continue the quest with resolutions you are actually keeping. Basically, renegotiating with you “new” self!

I hope that you have wonderful Holidays, I love hearing how other people spend Christmas. And remember –

Don’t feel bad if you have fallen off the wagon in your new year changes, just congratulate yourself when you get back on the wagon.

Have a great evening lovelies.
