gay rights

So, them pesky gays are at it again, the faggots, lezzers, homos, the dykes, the trannies all hell bent on flaunting their own sexuality. At least that’s what some would have us believe.

It’s true that many countries have moved forward and legalised gay marriage, it’s true that in many of those countries there has been some degree of progress toward simple acceptance. However, to put forward an argument that ‘gays’ flaunt or propagandise their sexuality is an argument that seems at the very least misguided, and at worst fundamentally and blindly prejudice.

Hetro sex sells! We apparently know it and the marketeers of this world certainly think they know it, age old adverts flaunting a hetro idea of sexuality have been rammed down out throats since…some bloke thought of it!

We see tits, buff, muscle flex, hairless, smooth, skeletal, snogging, semi shagging hetro couples adorning billboards, magazine covers, adverts and gratuitously engaging in rambunctious behaviour of a sexual nature on our tv, Internet, magazines, newspapers and movie screens.

Do I hear any shouts for propagandising or flaunting overtly sexualised images of a hetro nature? Well yes, but not from the same group who think its a valid argument for defending their own bigoted opinions whilst comfortable oggling page three!

Gay rights

What is propagandising homosexuality? Seems ambiguous to me. Lets look at Russia, while homosexuality was decriminalised in 1993 it would seem that the general opinion that faggots should be burnt at the stake seems to have increased since then. Russian government have passed anti gay legislation that prohibits the propaganda of non traditional sexual relationships to minors, as defined by lawmakers – ‘those relationships that cannot lead to production of offspring’.

It’s possibly important to look at declining birth rates since the collapse of the soviet union. Putin declared 2008 the year of the family and has since ‘propagandised’ Russia’s ideal family unit as being a more traditional heterosexual variety. Vladimir Roslyakovsky, the leader of an Orthodox organisation in the southern Russian city of Saratov, for example, perceives Western opposition to the laws as an attack on Russia itself. He declared “The US goal is that Russians stop having children”.

After these new laws were announced Russia has claimed a 30% birth rate increase. While some might argue its a narrow mind that assumes only a hetro couple can produce happy and healthy offspring – my only answer would be that I’m stating a possible link and that when faced with a vague, incomprehensible law such as the anti propaganda law it is entirely legitimate to be faced with such tenuosity.

We are now embarking on the build up to the Winter Olympics in Sochi 2014, in six months time the worlds eyes will focus on a tournament surrounded by controversy because of a Russian government who appears to believe that persecuting its own LGBT community is a progressive move forward. Much has been said in the media and there have been many reports of horrific crimes against human rights. People have been beaten and arrested for their beliefs, some have been lured to their deaths, violated and murdered.

Russia is a proud and strong nation, its nationals are committed to their nation and its leaders, I therefore doubt they will neither appreciate or respond to pressure. The LGBT community themselves will have a deep routed pride and an ingrained love for being Russian and Russia itself.

shutterstock_129702584

Is it reasonable that the IOC is lobbied to move the Winter Olympics to Vancouver? Is it possible to move it to Vancouver? Should we ask what’s happened to the billions of pounds missing from the Olympic committee fund? Should we boycott? What will happen to the athletes that have worked their entire lives for this chance to shine. Should we ask the athletes themselves to show solidarity with Russia’s LGBT community? Should the Olympics even be held in countries who abuse human rights? What about this apparent waste of good booze?! Should team GB wear rainbow colours, a pin, an armband. Nick Symmonds won gold in track at the world athletics and dedicated it to his gay and lesbian friends. New Zealander Blake Skjellerup has no intention of being forced back into the closet, Johnny Weir is an openly gay figure skater that happens to be married to a Russian-American, he will be competing and he does not support a boycott. Is visibility in Sochi a feasible protest? Pole vaulter Emma Green-Tregaro has been forced to re paint her nails at the world athletics. Julian clary would like to give skiing a good go and spare a thought for a Winter Olympics without commentary from Claire Balding!

Social media is alive with condemnation, disgust and alarm. Mr Stephen Fry has eloquently done his bit with his twitter masses and mr George Takei has given the facebookers something to think about. Boy George and DR Christian have declared their support for Russian Human rights activist Nikolai Alexeyev who has condemned western media for misrepresenting the situation and has been the subject of homophobic attacks. Gay Tory MP Margot James has made a statement calling for gay fans to make their presence known in Sochi. Gay Liberal Democrat MP Stephen Williams encouraged British athletes to protest at medal ceremonies.

human rights

I merely spent a nerve wracking ten minutes on local radio last week, trying desperately not to stumble over words whilst all the time sitting in a privileged position, comfy. No one questions my sexuality, no one condemns it, no one has ever persecuted me for it. However it still shocks me to my core and sickens my stomach that humans can treat other humans in such a brutal and savage way simply because they love. Because of who they are. Who they were born to be, much like Olympians.

What will you do? You have a voice! You can share, you can tweet, you can show the LGBT community in Russia they are not alone. You can sign the petitions, you can lobby your MP. You can shout out that its not ok!

France Road Trip Day 4 – Nantes- Part One

So Day 4 we went to the “culture capital” of France, Nantes. It was amazing. I must go back, like post haste! We got there around noon and so went straight for the cathedral which was stunning-

Inside-

The castle-

Not my best  picture as the sun was in my eyes, but you can see the moat etc in the back ground, just lovely!-

Where’s Bunny?-

The view from inside the walls ( apologies a lot with the boy in so only a few to share) –

The castle had a museum inside, but we didn’t bother to go in as it was about WW2, and I won’t lie, pretty much saturated ourselves about that subject recently so we left it in the hope there would be a more historical one near by.

View from the castle wall, you can see the cathedral in the background too.-

Street performers outside-

There are quite a few street performers in Nantes as it is a place that thrives on creativity and wants to be known as a place of culture, which is right up my street!Rather tempted to run off and make my living as one, sadly I can’t play anything..like ANYTHING, so wouldn’t make much!

Our next stop off in the city was rather exciting  and funny..put it this way, never take a “surprise me! ” approach to a menu in France. Ever.)  That tale is certainly in my next post ( there a lot of fun stuff  occurred in this place!)

Sigh, anyway I am off to dream of France again…as the Beruit song says “It’s been a long time since I saw your smile” ..oh Nantes <3

France 2013 – St Michael and St Malo

Day two on my France road trip we went to St Malo but also had pit stop by St Michael, which was established around the 8th century. We got up after Rouen feeling a bit for wear ( damn you beautiful French vin!) and started the longest drive of the trip it the summer heat ( eurgh!) We didn’t go all the way to the island, but went as close as we could for in the car. Those who wish to set foot on the island please be prepared for a bit of trekking to get there there…but I am assured it’s worth it ( just look at the pictures!) Alas, we were on a tight schedule so could only manage looking from afar-

Moi by the island…

St Malo was a place where the boy had been as a child so it held a lot of memories for him. It was beautiful…just stunning, but very touristy, so imagine going to the beaches in Wales if you’re British…it’s very busy, but lots to enjoy. Also hard to park in the town but out side there are cars parks you can use.  The entrance to the port –

Just out side of the entrance, by the taxi rank, TIP- taxis are hard to get later in the evening, so make sure you have figured out how to use your phone abroad, luckily the taxi numbers are available on the signs by the taxi depo-

One of the ship museums by the port –

One of the building on islands out to sea by St Malo, you can actually walk to them when the sea is out, so if you want to pay a visit..get there early!

On the sea front promenade at St Malo, simply beautiful-

A shot of the houses from the walls of the port-

Shot from the sea front promenade walls-

Another sea island building –

A sea building in the tide ( about 6ish) –

Beach view from the walls-

One of the street performer there-

This one played music from paper sheets on his machine, but there was also acrobats, guitar players and other artists, It was great!

The only down side was the fact that I got sick the evening we arrived, so we had to stay two days. We ate in the town and it was ok, but I think we missed out on a much better restaurant, as it was touristy it was hard to find a place to eat at the time we needed too. Otherwise, I loved it here. I would go again, but it’s not at the to of the list quite like some of the places we visited. Great if you have children though, it’s made for families!

France Rouen 2013

I have recently returned from the most amazing holiday in France. I have always been a bit of a Francophile, so getting to spend a few weeks in a place I am slightly in love with was the best offer I’ve had in a loooong time!  I went with the boy ( he does not feature on this blog, hence why there aren’t too many pictures, he tends to appear in most of mine!) and we drove around all of  the country, and tried to hit as many cites and towns as we could. We started off With Rouen, famous for being the city where Joan of Arc was burnt at the stake ( Booo!). I loved this city and it was a great place to start-

Me getting a bit bored at a gas station *sigh* just get me to the pub dammit!

Rouen-

Joan of Arc Artwork, she crops up everywhere-

Me by the Cathedral, it was stunning. Sadly, on my camera I didn’t get too many pictures of it without the boy featured! Doh!-

Me outside the Cathedral door, not being attacked by lightening…therefore we can consider the visit a success!-

Street shot- It was a lovely medieval style city. So nice to walk down the cobbled streets. As it was in the north of France it wasn’t TOO hot , the further south we went the hotter it got though, never good for a pale skinned gal like moi…eek!-

During our stay we met a lovely Anglophile who took us out and about in the city, which is always appreciated! One pub he took us too was called “Zooloo” . Basically, you just paid what you wanted at the bar and the landlord, who was a pretty cool chap, would make a crazy strong punch and you could pour it into your glass until you were content, ie- wankarded. You could also draw on the walls. I made sure to leave my mark…sadly, it features the boys name, so I can’t show it, but to give you an idea –

Me and our new friend, oh man he was lovely! Thank you good sir for making our first night grrreat-

In the evening we had a great meal of steak, it actually RARE,  just like I want it.  I tend to find trouble getting a good steak in the UK at times, but in France it was perfect every time.

There is one negative part of France though…the bloody one way road systems. Our first city trip was in Rouen, and it took us nearly an hour to get to our hotel, it was a NIGHTMARE! Esp when you can see the hotel but you’re not allowed to go down the street that it’s on…aggrh! Otherwise, I loved every minute of Rouen and fully intend to return. As we got there quite late and left very early the next day, we didn’t get too much of the city covered, so I am treating it as “unfinished” business.

The next morning we went to a cafe and had some sandwiches and made friends with the local birds, who thought nothing of coming and sitting on the table begging for my sandwich. They were so cute I may have given them far too much!  This does lead me to my first warning about France though, they have set dinner times etc, so if you want a larger lunch at a restaurant, try to eat lunch around 12- 2 as they tend to close up afterwards until about 6pm  when they re-open for dinner service.  You can eat at bistros all day though, so don’t panic!

The next stop was St Malo…and oh my that was a beautiful place, as you will see in the next post. It took us 4 hours to get there but my, the exciting roads made up for it!-

The French don’t half like a super bridge-

More to come in my next post…I am now off to cry about not being in France any more…sniffles.

Muchos love, BP Xx

Interview With Scruffy Kitten, She Has her Own City You Know!

Scruffy Kitten

Not too long ago, when  I was travelling around doing some very exciting interviews with my friends, and I promised to share my results. Obviously there was a slight delay as alas, my blooming blog went a big naughty and decided not to upload certain images etc. Therefore this wonderful interview with Scruffy kitten was delayed, but now everything is fixed and voila! Now this lady is amazeballs and is as beautiful inside as she is out ( and trust me with some models this can be a rarity!)  Good news is you will be hearing more about this lady in the up coming weeks as I delve deeper into her most current project “Scruff City”

Scruffy Kitten

Hi Scruffy kitten, How art thou?

Hiiii! I’m wonderful thank you, busy busy as always!!

We’ve noticed you’ve been a busy bee, always good to see! What would you say you were about?

Me, I’m a girl that likes the alternative lifestyle and playing with my own unique style, and I apply this to my modelling life! I often have photographers asking me what items I have in my ‘shoot’ box to make mself appear alternative for a shoot, and I’m just like, ‘No, this is me, what you see is what you get.’ I don’t ‘put on’ anything, I wear this stuff and style my hair this way and mess around with my make-up like this in my own life. That’s what seems to help people pay attention to my work.
At the moment I am edging away from alternative fashion modelling to try my hand at more creative outlets, shoots with a gore or fantasy theme, or playing a character rather than just posing against a background. As much as I have enjoyed fashion modelling, I am developing as a model and as a person, and I think this can be seen in my more recent work.

scruffy kitten

Ooh, tell us a little bit about that!

I am currently involved with a project called ‘Scruff City’; a graphic novel created using a mixture of photographs and artwork, in which I play the main character, Scruff. It has been a massive learning experience for me; before this, at most I had only played a ‘character’ in the sense that I was being asked to portray certain emotions during a shoot, but now I am learning to really get into a character, know HER and how she would feel in different situations, how she would respond to troubles thrown her way. It’s very much like acting (which is something I may be looking into further down the line…) but holding an emotion and a pose for a photo rather than moving with it.
I have also, after taking a liking to a bit of a gory photoshoot, taken part in some awesomely bloody stuff in the snow very recently, to come very soon…

scruffy kitten

Tres exciting! Other than gore, what recently has inspired you?

I do a lot of research into other people’s styles of modelling, photography and artwork, and recently I have been very much inspired by darker and more gothic images. Forlorn, lost girls with vast wasted landscapes behind them, decrepit run down buildings with a lone chair in the middle of an abandoned hallway, scenes in which girls are running and fighting to save their own lives. Just today, an image that has particularly stuck with me is one of a girl in a gas mask, looking very sad, with a flower in her hand, and behind her is a scene of nothingness, barren and lonely. I have folders and folders on inspiration saved on my computer!!

What piece of clothing/item/anything do you covet most?

Boots!!! I love my boots. I have so many, and yet I still don’t have enough. Black, white, red; leather, patent, suede; zips, buckles, studs; calf-high, knee-high, thigh-high!! I can never have enough.
I also seem to buy a LOT of hiiiigh shoes, but I rarely wear them. They’re just so pretty to look at. I intend to wear them out, but don’t because I choose boots with an outfit instead. Then, I intend to save them for shoots, but there I/or the photographer choose boots too!! So they just sit there, on my shelf, looking pretty at me.

scruffy kitten

What would you recommend for people wanting to get into the modelling and “alternative” business?

Shoot, and shoot, and shoot. Keep doing it!! Work with as many people as you can, because it’s ALL about learning, and experience. I wouldn’t have gotten anywhere if I hadn’t set up an online portfolio and just started working with as many people as I could. Also, research. Know what you like the look of, what interests you, and practice it. Practice poses, take photos along with you to shoots to try, and eventually, you get your own personal feel for it. Eventually, you know what is you, and what isn’t. And you learn how to work with photographers so you get good images. Saying that, every photographer is different, just like every model is different, so I guess, another bit of advice; always be up for trying something new!!
But I guess, the most important bit of advice I could give anyone, is be comfortable with what you are doing. You could apply that to a few things. For example, if you only feel comfortable shooting fully clothed, don’t shoot lingerie, or nude. If you feel nervous, or awkward, it will show in the photos, and it’s a waste of time for everybody. That said, everyone gets nervous from time to time (the first half hour of a shoot I’m usually full of nerves!!) so just loosen up, and have fun. Have a giggle.

scruffy kitten

Finally lovely lady, where can we find thee?

You like pugs, tell us about that!

Haha, it started with a free cuddly toy of a pug that had a MASSIVE head and a tiny body. It was my little baby  Since then, I’ve discovered how much love I have for the little critters! I think they are the most adorable things, ever. Wanna win my heart over? Give me something pug-related

Fair enough! –

Thank you Sam, and thank you readers! The next exciting interview will be the always amazing and slightly unhinged Karen Bevan, Radio assistant producer for the BBC.  I will also be catching up with Steve Todd again when he films me in my cookery show cameo next week, exciting times BBz!

Well This Feels Like a Punch Right in The Tit…

Today I am feeling pretty depressed. I know, I know, I usually play such a jazzy tune on here, but sometimes I do allow some self indulgence regarding my life as I do think it is good to be a teeny bit selfish now and then, as I feel it prevents mental break downs. Trust me though, I already know I have won the game of life simply by being born in west, thus meaning I have a home, education and food…and well, the western toilets are freaking grrreat compared to those on the other side of the world. That fact alone keeps me smiling some days… Anyhow I digress… So yes, I’m feeling pretty bummed.

So what is causing my dissatisfaction? Well…I just want to be great you know? I just want to be amazing. I want to be able to transcend where I am and get better, and better and better. Sadly, life gets in the way and sacrifices need to be made ( being an army wag does not help either I guess, but why begrudge the good things I have in life?!) Basically, I want to work in a job role that I love again, that I can’t stop going on about and am always studying for. Sadly, the companies of the world just won’t bloody let me.

you’re not technical enough” they say. “Well train me then!” I reply. Seriously you can hire all the “technicals” in the world but you cannot train this personality or work ethic into a person, so take me while you can!

You need more experience” is the response “Well look at what I have achieved in the time I have been working! ” I reply Ie. Seriously people, give me the job and I’ll NAIL it, the CV says what I can do and what can be thrown at me.

do this insane presentation for your interview” ” god why, just why?” I respond

So here I am working on my zillieth presentation, for a role that does not make me sparkle inside. The roles that do make me sparkle inside are always what I am looking up at from the gutter.

But I promise, I dragged my way out of stoke,  survived Shrewsbury and the work shit that thrown there and hauled ass down to London town…I promise you that this woman is going to make her own freaking space ship if she has to,  and my god when she does, just hope the world is ready. Because I am baby, I was born ready. Now where is my greatness?

Bp Xx

So I Am Going To Be On “TV”

So exciting times, I ,  Ms. Pudding will next week be partaking in a cookery “tv” show for a digital Asian channel, hence the “tv” part of that sentence ..I’m unsure of how many people actually watch the channel, or even said show…but yey! I’m gonna get on TV, sadly, booo! I only just started my post holiday diet ( no joke, I may have ate all of the cheese in France, so apologies if prices over seas went up, marketing traders who made a profit…you can thank me and the boy for our lack of will power..) so I won’t be looking my personal best (to MY standards before people worry!)

As some of you people may be aware I am a not so “secret” addict regarding the world of showbiz reporting….as in I never talk about my out of work hobbie/obsession until someone confesses their mutual love to me, they are then shocked when I reveal that I know far too about every Z list celeb out there. In fact, I love it so much I even started my own showbiz blog but then relocation, another project and new job caused me to put that on hiatus but hey, why not re start that bad boy now huh? Find it here- oh yes, you know you love it too really, and your support sexy readers is always welcome –

http://bunnypuddingblogsthebiz.wordpress.com/

In other news, as you may have picked up, I have just returned from France…and that my Bbz was EPIC and I will start a post about that for you asap, but for now I have a few showbiz posts I want to start a tippy typing!
